What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only safe, effective gradual removal of unwanted hair. Before treatment begins, a consultation will take place in order to explain and reassure you of the appropriate treatment. A new, sterile needle is used for each client and is inserted into the hair follicle where a small amount of electrical energy is discharged. This destroys the hair growth tissue with no adverse side effects. Sometimes, a slight reddening of the skin occurs during or immediately after treatment, but this will only last for a short time.

Is electrolysis uncomfortable?

Any form of hair removal has some form of discomfort attached to it. The use of older electrolysis equipment and techniques are a cause of more discomfort. Most clients are pleasantly surprised, as the Apilus electrolysis systems are much more comfortable than other machines. There is a slight feeling of warmth when the current is applied but it is usually brief. The methods used are adjusted to be the most comfortable for the client.

How long does treatment take?

The number of treatments varies with each individual client. Factors such as hair growth cycles, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, medications and stress influence the treatment program for each client. Since many factors influence hair growth, you will need to return for several electrolysis visits. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Most clients return once a week or every other week, as necessary, but the unwanted hair will be gone forever once the series of treatments have been completed.
